********************************************************
At its 11th meeting held today (January 6), the Lantau Development Advisory Committee discussed the gist of the work of the Committee in its second term of two years.

The gist summarises the work of the second term of the Committee, including conducting a three-month public engagement exercise, providing views to the Government on the formulation of the Sustainable Lantau Blueprint with an overarching principle of "Development in the North; Conservation for the South", and taking forward the work for the development and conservation of Lantau.

The Committee also discussed the progress reports of three subcommittees, including the Sustainable Development Subcommittee, the Traffic, Transport and District Improvement Items Subcommittee as well as the Public Relations and Promotion Subcommittee, and concluded the opinions and suggestions made by the members.

The Secretary for Development and Chairman of the Committee, Mr Michael Wong, said at the meeting that the Sustainable Lantau Office under the Civil Engineering and Development Department was set up on December 1 last year. This dedicated office will continue to collect views of different stakeholders for timely implementation of various initiatives in the Sustainable Lantau Blueprint.

The second term of the Committee will expire at the end of this month. At the meeting, Mr Wong expressed his gratitude to members for their effort and contributions in the past two years and hoped that the Committee would continue to provide advice on the sustainable development of Lantau.
