SFST visits Tuen Mun District (with photos)

     The Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Mr James Lau, visited an integrated rehabilitation and residential care home for children and juveniles during his visit to Tuen Mun District today (January 5). He also met with members of the Tuen Mun District Council (TMDC) to exchange views on issues of community concern.

     Upon arrival at the Tuen Mun Children and Juvenile Home (TMCJH) run by the Social Welfare Department, Mr Lau was briefed by the staff on the operation of the residential home. He also chatted with a number of young residents to understand their daily lives there.

      The TMCJH commenced operation in 2007 and provides temporary custody and residential training for juveniles and children in need of guardianship and care through the integration of education and vocational training, community service, recreational activities and medical care service, so as to help them start a new life in the community.

     Mr Lau then met with members of the TMDC to exchange views on various issues including local banking services, mobile payment and financial technology development, property mortgages and provision of parking facilities at Tuen Mun Cultural Square.
