Fatal traffic accident in Kwai Chung

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Kwai Chung (January 4) in which a 55-year-old man died.

     At about 4.53pm, a motorcycle driven by a 55-year-old man and a taxi driven by a 71-year-old man was travelling in sequence along the slip road of Kwai Yik Road towards Tsuen Wan. When approaching the junction of Kwai Yik Road and Kwai Chung Road, the motorcycle reportedly stopped due to traffic conditions. The taxi failed to brake and collided with the motorcycle.

     The 55-year-old motorcyclist was rushed to Yan Chai Hospital in unconscious state for medical treatment. He was later certified dead at 5.19pm.

     The taxi driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for further enquiries.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South is underway.
