Administration Wing removed protestors from East Wing Forecourt in early hours
******************************************************************************
A total of four men and one woman refused to leave the East Wing Forecourt (the Forecourt) of the Central Government Offices (CGO) after the January 1 public procession. The Administration Wing removed these protestors from the Forecourt in the early hours today (January 2).

The opening hours of the Forecourt for holding public meetings are from 10am to 6.30pm on Sundays and public holidays. The protestors concerned had been staying at the Forecourt since the public procession ended in the afternoon of January 1 and neglected repeated advice by the Administration Wing urging them to leave.

The Administration Wing issued three warnings to the protestors between 11.10pm and 11.40pm last night to warn them that their over-staying at the Forecourt without permission of the Director of Administration was trespassing. The protestors were notified that they would be removed from the Forecourt if they failed to leave voluntarily. Up to 11.55pm, protestors had neglected the warnings. The Administration Wing therefore took action to remove them from the Forecourt. When one of the protestors was removed, the remaining four protestors left the Forecourt voluntarily.

A spokesman for the Administration Wing expressed regret over some protestors at the Forecourt on January 1 who did not abide by the rules of the venue.

Two CGO security guards were injured during the public meeting on January 1.
