Police appeals for no drink or drug driving

     Police appeal to motorists to drive safely during festive seasons, and they are urged not to drive after consuming alcohol or drug.

     According to Police figures, Police conducted breath tests on 181,983 drivers from January to November. Among them, 512 drivers were unable to pass the test and were arrested.

     Police enhanced enforcement actions from December 22 to December 26, and conducted breath tests on 3,197 drivers. Among them, 32 drivers were unable to pass the test and were arrested.

     Police appeal to motorists to be responsible and safe road users. Convicted offenders will be liable to have their driving licenses suspended or sentenced to imprisonment.

     Police will enhance random breath test during the New Year period to combat drink driving. The driver will be arrested immediately if the proportion of alcohol in breath exceeded the prescribed limit.
