Cluster of Influenza B cases in Yan Chai Hospital

The spokesperson for Yan Chai Hospital made the following announcement today (December 29):
Three patients (aged 50 to 95) in a Female Medical Rehabilitation Ward have presented with fever and respiratory symptoms since December 23. Appropriate viral tests were arranged for the patients and their test results were positive for Influenza B. The concerned patients are being treated under isolation and are in stable condition.
Infection control measures in the ward have been stepped up according to established guidelines. All other patients in the ward are under close surveillance.
The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow-up.
