SCED attends closing session of 11th WTO Ministerial Conference (with photo)

     The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Edward Yau, attended the closing session of the 11th World Trade Organization (WTO) Ministerial Conference (MC11) in Buenos Aires, Argentina, today (December 13, Buenos Aires time).
 
     The Conference concluded with resounding support from participating ministers for reaffirming the principles and objectives set out in the Marrakesh Agreement Establishing the WTO and the centrality of the rule-based multilateral trading system.
 
     In the morning, Mr Yau attended a small group meeting with some WTO Members to follow up on yesterday's discussion on the issue of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises.
 
     On the margins of the MC11, Mr Yau also held a meeting with the Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment of Australia, Mr Steven Ciobo, on trade co-operation between Hong Kong and Australia.
 
     Mr Yau will continue his visit in Argentina tomorrow and sign a Memorandum of Understanding on Co-operation in Wine-related Businesses between Hong Kong and Argentina.
