SCMA visits Kowloon City District (with photos)

The Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Patrick Nip, visited Kowloon City District today (December 11) and met with members of the Kowloon City District Council (KCDC). He also visited a resource centre in the district which serves people with special needs as well as their family members, and a nutritious meal delivery service centre for people in need.
Accompanied by the Chairman of the KCDC, Mr Pun Kwok-wah, and the District Officer (Kowloon City), Mr Franco Kwok, Mr Nip met with members of the KCDC to exchange views on social and district matters.
Mr Nip then visited Heep Hong Society Jockey Club STAR Resource Centre. During the tour, he was briefed on the one-stop service for autistic people of different ages, including learning, socialising, family and employment support.
He said he was delighted to learn that the centre provides a comprehensive employment support programme, including the vocational training workshop STAR Café, for high-functioning autistic persons with a view to enhancing their life, social and vocational skills. The centre also offers extensive support to families with autistic children to enable them to better understand the problems encountered by their children at different stages of their development and the ways of handling them.
Afterwards, Mr Nip visited Lok Sin Tong Meal Delivery Service Centre to understand more about the service scope of the centre and the process in preparing nutritious meals for the needy and working people in Kowloon City. He learnt that the centre particularly engages women, youths, middle-aged people and retirees in the district to work for the centre to enable them to contribute to the community with their skills, enhance their competitiveness and integrate into society.
