     Legislative Council (LegCo) Joint Subcommittee on Long-term Care Policy conducted a visited to Caritas Medical Centre (CMC) today (December 8) to better understand its palliative care service. 

     Members first received a briefing from representatives of CMC on the operation of palliative care service and the daily work of front-line healthcare staff. Members then visited the palliative care ward and the Day Care Center. Members also took the opportunity to exchange views on issues relating to palliative care service with representatives of the Food and Health Bureau.

     The Joint Subcommittee will receive public views on hospice services at its meeting next Tuesday (December 12). The agenda and relevant papers can be found at the following website: www.legco.gov.hk/yr17-18/english/panels/ltcp/agenda/ltcp20171212.htm.

     Members who participated in the visit were the Joint Subcommittee's Chairman, Dr Fernando Cheung; the Joint Subcommittee's Deputy Chairman, Mr Shiu Ka-chun; and Joint Subcommittee's members Mr Leung Yiu-chung and Dr Pierre Chan.

     The Joint Subcommittee is a subcommittee formed under the LegCo Panel on Welfare Services and the LegCo Panel on Health Services.
