Proprietor fined for violation of safety legislation

Shun Tak - China Travel Ship Management Limited was fined $120,000 at Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts today (December 4) for violation of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance and the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Regulations. The prosecutions were launched by the Labour Department.

The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on February 7 this year at a shipbuilding workshop in Lai Chi Kok. A worker while working on the unfenced roof of a single-storey structure fell about 3 metres to the ground. He sustained serious head injury and passed away on the same day.
