Hong Kong Customs seizes suspected herbal cannabis (with photo)

     Hong Kong Customs seized about 8.5 kilograms of suspected herbal cannabis with an estimated market value of about $1.9 million at Hong Kong International Airport on December 1.

     Customs officers inspected an air parcel from Johannesburg, South Africa on December 1 and seized about 8.5kg of suspected herbal cannabis inside four folders.

     Customs officers arrested a 32-year-old man suspected to be related to the case in Yuen Long yesterday (December 2).
The arrested man has been charged with one count of trafficking in a dangerous drug. He will appear at West Kowloon Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (December 4).

     Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty upon conviction is a fine of $5 million and life imprisonment.
