SFH to attend tripartite senior health officials meeting in Haikou

     The Secretary for Food and Health, Professor Sophia Chan, today (December 3) led a delegation to Haikou to attend the 16th Joint Meeting of Senior Health Officials of the Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao organised by the National Health, Family and Planning Commission to be held tomorrow (December 4).
 
     The meeting will provide a platform for senior medical and health officials and experts of the Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao to share their experience and exchange views on public health and medical issues.
 
     Professor Chan will deliver a speech at the opening ceremony of the meeting tomorrow. Participants will discuss issues relating to health co-operation in the Bay Area, ageing population, R&D co-operation, and strategies and developments in rehabilitation services. A co-operation agreement on healthcare training in response to ageing population will also be signed during the meeting.
 
     Members of the Hong Kong delegation include the Director of Health, Dr Constance Chan; the Controller of the Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health, Dr Wong Ka-hing; the Deputy Secretary for Food and Health (Health)1, Mr Howard Chan; the Chairman of the Hospital Authority (HA), Professor John Leong; and the Chief Executive of the HA, Dr Leung Pak-yin.
 
     Professor Chan will return to Hong Kong on December 5. The Under Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Chui Tak-yi, will be the Acting Secretary for Food and Health during Professor Chan's absence.
