************************************************************************************
The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Berlin (HKETO Berlin) hosted a booth at the Swiss education fair Master-Messe 2017 in Zurich on November 22 (Zurich Time) to inform around 1 500 visitors about the exciting study opportunities that Hong Kong offers. Master-Messe is the largest education fair in Switzerland, featuring lectures, presentations and career consultations. It provided information about more than 400 study programmes worldwide. The Deputy Director of HKETO Berlin, Ms Alison Lo, gave a presentation on the unique advantages of studying in Hong Kong, a partner region of the 2017 edition.

"Hong Kong is an international, modern and dynamic city with a thriving economy right in the heart of Asia where the East meets the West," Ms Lo said when presenting Hong Kong's advantages. "Hong Kong is home to some of the world's top 50 universities. We welcome students from around the world to study and work in our city," she added. Ms Lo also highlighted the excellent research opportunities in Hong Kong supported by the HK$23 billion Research Endowment Fund.

Hong Kong's post-secondary education institutions offer a variety of high quality programmes which are internationally recognised. Hong Kong's programmes are taught in English, and the universities adopt international standards in curriculum design as well as quality assurance. Hong Kong universities also offer some of the world's best business administration and executive business management programmes. Of the 20 local degree-awarding institutions in Hong Kong, four are ranked in the world's top 50 and Asia's top 20 by the Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings 2018.

To attract outstanding non-local students to study in Hong Kong, the Government offers several scholarship opportunities. Among them, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government Scholarship Fund offers HK$80,000 (about CHF 10,200) per year for each scholarship awardee, and the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme provides an annual stipend of HK$240,000 (about CHF 30,500) and a conference and research-related travel allowance of HK$10,000 (about CHF 1,300) per year to each awardee for a period of up to three years.

Looking ahead, the HKETO Berlin will participate in the international education fair BeSt 2018, held from March 1 to 4, in Vienna. For details about studying in Hong Kong, please visit studyinhongkong.edu.hk.
