Temporary traffic arrangements for tram track renewal works in Eastern District from next Monday
***************************************************************

The Transport Department (TD) today (November 16) reminded the public that to facilitate tram track renewal work in Eastern District, the following temporary traffic arrangements will be implemented from about 10am next Monday (November 20) to 10am on November 27 (Monday) or until the works are completed:

(A) Traffic lane closure
--------------------------

The following traffic lanes will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic:
(i) A section of the offside lane of Hoi An Street near Shau Kei Wan Road;
(ii) A section of the offside lane of Shau Kei Wan Road eastbound near Hoi An Street; and
(iii) A section of the tram lane on Shau Kei Wan Road westbound near Hoi An Street (except for trams).

(B) Temporary restricted zone
----------------------------------

A section of the northern kerbside lane of Shau Kei Wan Road near Hoi An Street will be temporarily designated as a restricted zone 24 hours daily.

(C) Banning of turning movement
--------------------------------------

All vehicles will be temporarily prohibited from turning right from Hoi An Street onto Shau Kei Wan Road westbound.

(D) Traffic diversions
-----------------------

(i) Vehicles on Hoi An Street heading for the section of Shau Kei Wan Road westbound west of Hoi Ning Road will be diverted via Sai Wan Ho Street westbound and Hoi Ning Street northbound; and
(ii) Vehicles on Hoi An Street heading for the section of Shau Kei Wan Road westbound between Hoi An Street and Hoi Ning Street will be diverted via Sun Sing Street.

Appropriate traffic signs and road markings will be erected on-site to guide motorists.

The TD anticipates that the traffic in the vicinity of Hoi An Street and Shau Kei Wan Road will be relatively congested during the above works period. Motorists should exercise tolerance and patience in case of traffic congestion. Members of the public are advised to plan their journey early and allow sufficient travelling time to cater for unexpected delay, and be alert to the latest traffic news through the media.

Details of the temporary traffic arrangement are now available on the department's website (www.td.gov.hk).
