Regional Traffic Day of Hong Kong Island

     Police officers issued a total of 1,401 Fixed Penalty Tickets (FPTs) and 88 summonses to road users violating traffic regulations during the Regional Traffic Day on Hong Kong Island today (November 14).

     The operation concluded at 7pm and a total of 282 officers from Traffic Hong Kong Island and District Traffic Teams of Eastern, Wan Chai, Central and Western Districts were deployed to enforce traffic regulations at traffic black spots on Hong Kong Island.

     A total of 1,233 FPTs were issued for illegal parking and 168 for other traffic offences.

     Besides, four pedestrians were cautioned for committing minor traffic offence.

     Statistics revealed that a total of 2,287 traffic accidents involving casualties occurred on Hong Kong Island in January to October 2017, of which 656 cases with pedestrians injured. Among the traffic accidents with pedestrians injured, 38 per cent were attributed to the negligence of pedestrians.
