Berliner Philharmoniker's Saturday concert and live relay to begin at 5pm
***************************************************************

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) today (November 9) reminded the public that the live relay of the daytime concert by the prestigious Berliner Philharmoniker this Saturday (November 11) will commence at 5pm.

At 5pm on Saturday, the Berliner Philharmoniker will stage a concert at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre (HKCC) featuring masterpieces by Stravinsky and Rachmaninov, as well as a new work by Korean composer Unsuk Chin, under the baton of world-renowned conductor Sir Simon Rattle.

To allow a larger audience to watch the orchestra perform, the LCSD has arranged for a live relay at Piazza C of the HKCC, the Main Plaza of Sha Tin Park and the Auditorium of the Yuen Long Theatre. Before the performance there will be "Pre-concert Chit-chats" (in Cantonese) at the three venues which will begin at 4.15pm.

Audiences at the HKCC's Piazza C will also have an opportunity to watch another concert, entitled "Swire Symphony Under the Stars", which will be presented by the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra on the same day. A live relay will be held at 7.30pm.

The Berliner Philharmoniker's first concert will be held at 8pm tomorrow (November 10) at the HKCC with works by Richard Strauss and Brahms. The promising pianist Seong-Jin Cho will also perform Ravel's "Piano Concerto in G". A live relay and "Pre-concert Chit-chats" will also be available starting at 7.15pm at the above-mentioned venues.

Admission to the live relays and "Pre-concert Chit-chats" is free and on a first-come, first-served basis.
