Hong Kong Customs yesterday (November 6) seized about 2 kilograms of suspected methamphetamine and about 600 grams of suspected crack cocaine with an estimated market value of about $1.6 million in Mong Kok.

     During an anti-narcotics operation in Mong Kok yesterday, Customs officers intercepted a man and found about 1kg of suspected methamphetamine inside a rucksack carried by him.  The man, aged 48, was then arrested.  

     After investigation, Customs officers escorted the arrested person to an industrial building unit nearby where about 1kg of suspected methamphetamine, 600g of suspected crack cocaine and a batch of packaging paraphernalia were further seized.

     Investigation is ongoing.

     Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty upon conviction is a fine of $5 million and life imprisonment.
