Attempted murder and attempted suicide in Kwun Tong

     Police are investigating an attempted murder and attempted suicide case in Kwun Tong in the small hours today (October 30).

     At about 4.10am, Police received a report from a security guard that smoke was emitted from a unit at 8 Yuet Wah Street.

     Police officers sped to the scene and found a 49-year-old man and his five-year-old son lying on a bed in a bedroom. A basin of burned charcoal was found nearby. The man in unconscious state was rushed to United Christian Hospital and later regained consciousness. His son was sent to United Christian Hospital consciously for medical treatment.  The 30-year-old wife and another five-year-old son of the man, who stayed in another bedroom of the unit, were conscious and no hospital treatment was required.

     Initial investigation revealed that the man had suspectedly burned charcoal in an attempt to kill himself and others in the unit. He was arrested for attempted murder and is being detained for further enquiries.

     Active investigation by the District Crime Squad of Kwun Tong District is underway.
