Hong Kong Customs seizes suspected smuggled diamonds (with photos)

Customs officers intercepted an outgoing private car at Shenzhen Bay Control Point for inspection yesterday. The batch of suspected smuggled diamonds was found inside the pocket of the trousers worn by the driver. The 36-year-old male driver was arrested. Investigation is ongoing and the arrested man has been released on bail pending further investigation.
Smuggling is a serious offence. Under the Import and Export Ordinance, any person found guilty of importing or exporting unmanifested cargo is liable to a maximum fine of $2 million and imprisonment for seven years.
