CSSA caseload for September 2017

     The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in September showed a drop of 638 cases, representing a decrease of 0.3 per cent compared with that of August, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (October 25).

     The total CSSA caseload at the end of September stood at 234 292 (see attached table), with a total of 339 669 recipients.

     Analysed by case nature, low-earnings cases registered a month-to-month decrease of 1.7 per cent to 4 641 cases while unemployment cases showed a drop of 1.1 per cent to 13 415 cases.

     Single parent cases and ill health cases decreased by 1.0 and 0.2 per cent to 26 331 cases and 23 849 cases respectively. Permanent disability cases dropped slightly by 0.1 per cent to 17 240 cases.

     Old age cases remained steady at 144 507 cases.
