FEHD orders two restaurants in Jordan to suspend business for 14 days
*********************************************************************
The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered two restaurants in Jordan to suspend business for 14 days as the operators repeatedly breached the Food Business Regulation (FBR) by extending the business areas illegally.

The two restaurants, located at shops D and E on the ground floor of David Mansion at 93-103 Woosung Street, Jordan, and on the ground floor of Agatha Building at 19 Ning Po Street, Jordan, were ordered to suspend business from today (October 21) to November 3.

A spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) said, "In August this year, two convictions for the above-mentioned breach were recorded against the restaurant located at Woosung Street. A total fine of $8,000 was levied by the court and 30 demerit points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension."

The licensee of this restaurant had a record of two convictions for the same offence in November last year and March this year. A total fine of $3,500 was levied and 30 demerit points were registered. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days between late June and early July last year.

"In May and August this year, two convictions for the above-mentioned breach were recorded against the restaurant located at Ning Po Street. A total fine of $8,500 was levied by the court and 30 demerit points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," the spokesman added.

The licensee of this restaurant had a record of two convictions for the same offence in June last year and March this year. A total fine of $6,300 was levied and 30 demerit points were registered. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days between late June and early July this year.

The spokesman reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the FBR or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.

Licensed food premises are required to exhibit a sign, at a conspicuous place near the main entrance, indicating that the premises have been licensed. A list of licensed food premises is available on the FEHD's website (www.fehd.gov.hk/english/licensing/index.html).
