The Sales of First-hand Residential Properties Authority (SRPA) today (October 20) issued a new pamphlet introducing the SRPA and the Residential Properties (First-hand Sales) Ordinance.

The new pamphlet, entitled "Transparent and Fair Transactions Safeguard Home Buyers' Rights", gives a brief outline on functions of the SRPA and requirements of the Ordinance. The pamphlet serves as a quick reference to prospective purchasers of first-hand residential properties on the protection afforded by the Ordinance.

The SRPA handed out the new pamphlets and souvenirs to prospective purchasers at the sales office of a first-hand residential development today. The public can view the pamphlet on the SRPA website (www.srpa.gov.hk).

"Through distributing publicity materials to prospective purchasers, the SRPA would like to remind them on issues that they should pay attention to when purchasing first-hand residential properties," an SRPA spokesman said.

"Notes to Purchasers of First-hand Residential Properties, pamphlets and souvenirs are handed out to prospective purchasers at sales offices and show flats of first-hand residential properties. Since the launch in May this year, 20 rounds of distribution have been conducted so far covering 12 first-hand residential developments," the spokesman added.

The SRPA attaches importance to inspections at sales offices of first-hand residential properties and has worked closely with the Estate Agents Authority (EAA) to ensure that the sales of first-hand residential properties are conducted in an orderly manner.

In a joint operation with the EAA at the sales office of a first-hand residential development today, SRPA officers inspected the sales procedures and checked if the vendor had acted in compliance with the requirements of the Ordinance. Since May this year, the SRPA and the EAA have conducted 10 joint operations.

The SRPA will continue to strengthen compliance checks on sales documents and inspections of sales offices and show flats to further enhance the transparency and fairness of the sales of first-hand residential properties, protect the interests of purchasers and provide a level playing field to vendors of first-hand residential properties.
