Veteran Cantonese opera stars and young talents to perform "Four Generations on Stage"

     Veteran Cantonese opera stars Chan Ho-kau, Yau Sing-po, Yuen Siu-fai and Lee Lung will collaborate with other Cantonese opera performers including talented young actors in an upcoming production entitled "Four Generations on Stage". The programme will showcase excerpts from well-known Cantonese operas. Details of the performances are as follows:

December 13 (Wednesday), 7.30pm
Auditorium, Kwai Tsing Theatre
Programme: "Love Probe" from "The Story of the Burning Incense", "Interrogating the Red Maid" from "Romance of the West Chamber", "Retrieving the Head at Gao Ping Guan" (formulaic "paichang" play in ancient vocal style), "The Big Trial" from "The Lady's Sash" and "Plunging into the River with a Rock" from "The Moon Pavilion"

December 14 (Thursday), 7.30pm
Auditorium, Kwai Tsing Theatre
Programme: "Fantasy of Heaven of Parting Sorrow" from "The Dream of the Red Mansion", "Interrogating the Red Maid" from "Romance of the West Chamber", "Retrieving the Head at Gao Ping Guan" (formulaic "paichang" play in ancient vocal style), "Grudges and Hatred" from "The Red Tassel" and "Plunging into the River with a Rock" from "The Moon Pavilion"

     In addition to the four veteran stars, the cast includes Szeto Chui-ying, Ng Lap-hei, Chan Wing-yee, Tong Yuen-ying, Kwok Chun-sing, Chan Chak-lui, Cheung Kit-ha, Wan Yuk-yu, Jim Ho-fung, Lai Yiu-wai, Loong Koon-tin, Lo Lai-see and Juliana Kwan.

     "Four Generations on Stage" is presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. Tickets priced at $120, $220, $300 and $380 are now available at URBTIX (www.urbtix.hk).      A post-performance talk (in Cantonese) will be held at 7.30pm on December 21 (Thursday) at AC1, Level 4, Administration Building, Hong Kong Cultural Centre. Speakers will include Yuen Siu-fai, Loong Koon-tin and Juliana Kwan. Admission is free with limited seats available on a first-come, first-served basis.
