Regional Traffic Day of Hong Kong Island
     Police officers issued a total of 1,103 Fixed Penalty Tickets (FPTs) and 74 summonses to road users violating traffic regulations during the Regional Traffic Day on Hong Kong Island today (October 16).

     The operation concluded at 7pm and a total of 316 officers from Traffic Hong Kong Island and District Traffic Teams of Eastern, Wan Chai, Central and Western Districts were deployed to enforce traffic regulations at traffic black spots on Hong Kong Island.

     A total of 952 FPTs were issued for illegal parking and 151 for other traffic offences.

     Statistics revealed that a total of 2,047 traffic accidents involving casualties occurred on Hong Kong Island from January to September 2017, of which 581 cases with pedestrians injured. Among the traffic accidents with pedestrians injured, 37.7 per cent were attributed to the negligence of pedestrians.
