******************************************************************************************
The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, London (London ETO) co-organised a reception with the Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce in Sweden in Stockholm, Sweden to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (the HKSAR 20th anniversary) in October 2017.

On October 11 (Swedish time), the London ETO co-organised a 20th Anniversary reception at the Swedish History Museum in Stockholm with the newly established Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce in Sweden. Key speakers at the reception included Vice-Chairman of the Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce in Sweden, Ms Torborg Chetkovich; the Chinese Ambassador to Sweden, Mr Gui Congyou; and Director-General of the London ETO, Ms Priscilla To. Over 150 friends of Hong Kong from different sectors in Sweden, including the diplomatic circle, business community, Swedish government and academics and research sector, joined the London ETO at the reception to share the joy of the special occasion.

Speaking at the reception, Ms To said, "Over the past 20 years, under the successful implementation of 'one country, two systems', Hong Kong has continued to thrive as an international financial and business centre. We remain as open, diverse and dynamic as ever.

"Hong Kong's success is underpinned by our rule of law, a clean and efficient government, a level playing field for business, and a well-educated population. We continue to rank as the freest economy in the world, and amongst the top globally in respect of our competitiveness and the independence of our judiciary," she added.

Ms To also took the opportunity to share with the guests the first Policy Address of the Chief Executive of the HKSAR, Mrs Carrie Lam, which was announced on the day, including the visions of the new term of government and the new initiatives to create opportunities for Hong Kong.

The reception also featured a performance by the Hong Kong String Orchestra led by its founder and Artistic Director, Ms Jue Yao. Founded in 2013, the Orchestra is the one and only professional string orchestra in Hong Kong offering international mentorship programmes for outstanding local music graduates to shine and showcase their talent. The Orchestra performed at the reception a variety of classical pieces from both the East and the West, including the famous Hong Kong song "Below the Lion Rock". Sponsored by the London ETO, the Orchestra also took part in a concert at the Uusi Paviljonki in Kauniainen, Finland on October 10, which celebrated the 20th anniversary of the HKSAR as well as the centenary of Finland's independence.
