Temporary traffic arrangements for tram track renewal works in Eastern District from next Monday

     The Transport Department (TD) today (October 11) reminded the public that to facilitate tram track renewal work in Eastern District, the following temporary traffic arrangements will be implemented from about 10am on next Monday (October 16) to 10am on November 6 (Monday) or until the above works are completed:
 
(A) Lane closure
------------------ 
     The following lanes will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic:
(i) A section of the offside lane of Shau Kei Wan Road eastbound near Hoi An Street (except for trams); and
(ii) A section of the nearside lane of Hoi An Street near Shau Kei Wan Road.
 
(B) Temporary restricted zone
---------------------------------- 
     The northern kerbside lane of Shau Kei Wan Road near Hoi An Street will be temporarily designated as a restricted zone 24 hours daily.
 
(C) Banning of turning movement
-------------------------------------- 
     All vehicles exceeding 5 metres in length will be temporarily prohibited from turning left from Hoi An Street onto Shau Kei Wan Road eastbound.
 
(D) Traffic diversions
-------------------------
(i) Vehicles exceeding 5 metres in length on Hing Man Street eastbound heading for Shau Kei Wan Road eastbound will be diverted via Hing Man Street southbound; and
(ii) Vehicles exceeding 5 metres in length on Hoi An Street heading for Shau Kei Wan Road eastbound will be diverted via Sai Wan Ho Street westbound, Hoi Ning Street northbound, Hing Man Street eastbound and Hing Man Street southbound.
 
     Appropriate traffic signs and road markings will be erected on-site to guide motorists.
 
     The TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and implement appropriate measures whenever necessary. Members of the public are advised to be alert to the latest traffic news on radio and television.
