CP attends the 86th INTERPOL General Assembly in Beijing

     The Commissioner of the Hong Kong Police, Mr Lo Wai-chung, led a nine-member delegation to attend the 86th INTERPOL General Assembly in Beijing between September 26 and 29.

     The governing body of INTERPOL, the General Assembly, meets once a year to discuss and endorse major policy decisions concerning INTERPOL. Over 850 senior law enforcement officers from 158 member countries took part in the General Assembly.

     Led by Mr Lo, the Hong Kong Police delegation is part of the Mainland delegation headed by the Minister of Public Security, Mr Guo Shengkun. Members of the Hong Kong Police delegation include Director of Operations, Mr Tang Ping-keung; Kowloon East Regional Commander, Ms Ho Yuen-ha; Chief Superintendent of Commercial Crime Bureau, Mr Wong Ying-wai; Chief Superintendent of Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau, Mr Chan Wing-on; Deputy Director of Hong Kong Police College, Mr Chan Man-tak and Senior Superintendent of Liaison Bureau, Mr Chan Tung.

     The theme of this year's General Assembly is "Taking a Stance in Global Policing". In the General Assembly, delegates discussed and endorsed a series of measures that have strengthened the INTERPOL organisation to better serve the member states and reinforced partnerships, which would continue to enhance the capabilities of INTERPOL in its fight against cross-boundary crimes.

     Meanwhile, Mr Lo had bilateral meetings with the chief of police from Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Secretary-General of INTERPOL, Mr Jürgen Stock, as well as short discussions with President of INTERPOL, Mr Meng Hongwei, and representatives from France, Germany and Thailand to discuss issues on combating transnational crime, anti-terrorism and international cooperation matters.
