SED visits North District (with photos)
***************************************
The Secretary for Education, Mr Kevin Yeung, visited North District this afternoon (September 29) and listened to the views on education expressed by District Council members and local residents.

Accompanied by the District Officer (North), Mr Chong Wing-wun, Mr Yeung first visited the North District Council and met with its Chairman, Mr So Sai-chi, and other District Council members. They exchanged views on issues of mutual concern such as school allocation, supply of and demand for school places and support for students.

He then paid a visit to the students participating in the 333 Learning Companion Leadership Program at HHCKLA Buddhist Wisdom Primary School in Sheung Shui. Funded by the We R Family Foundation, the Program provides homework guidance and value-added lessons for primary school students from needy families. The Program aims to encourage the students to become self-motivated learners and develop self-confidence and the willingness to help others, and nurture them to be young leaders of the future.

Mr Yeung praised the local community service of this kind, opining that the concerted efforts of the Government, schools, community organisations and members of the public could provide students with the needed support and help them develop a positive attitude towards life.
