HKETO Brussels promotes Hong Kong films in Greece (with photos)
***************************************************************
Fans of crime thrillers in Thessaloniki, Greece's second-largest city, will get the chance to see some classics of the genre at the Hong Kong Police Films Programme, a film event co-organised by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Brussels (HKETO, Brussels) and the Thessaloniki International Film Festival (TIFF) from September 28 to October 1 (Thessaloniki time).

Films being screened at the Hong Kong Police Film Programme include the box office hits "Infernal Affairs" by Andrew Lau and Alan Mak, "Police Story" by Jackie Chan, "Enter the Dragon" by Robert Clouse and "Hard Boiled" by John Woo.

This is the third year running that the HKETO, Brussels has partnered with the TIFF to bring Hong Kong films to Greek movie lovers.  Last year, the Festival presented the Hong Kong Martial Arts Film programme.

Addressing the audience before the screening of "Infernal Affairs" at the John Cassavetes theatre in the Port of Thessaloniki on September 28 (Thessaloniki time), the Assistant Representative of the HKETO, Brussels, Mr Jeffrey Chim, noted that 2017 is a milestone year for Hong Kong as the city is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. He said that with a mix of Chinese and Western influences, Hong Kong remains a place of open borders and open minds that allows talent and creativity to flourish.

Mr Chim added that Hong Kong has one of the largest and most dynamic film entertainment industries in the world, with 61 Hong Kong films released in the city in 2016.

"Hong Kong produces many different kinds of film, but kung fu films and police stories remain firm favourites with audiences. This cinematic universe is evident in the selection of police films in this programme, which ranges from movies like 'Infernal Affairs', which received global critical acclaim and inspired Hollywood's Martin Scorsese to shoot an Oscar-winning remake, to the classic 'Enter the Dragon', considered one of the greatest films of all time in its genre." He encouraged the guests to return and see other Hong Kong cinematic gems in the programme.

During his visit to Thessaloniki, Mr Chim also took the opportunity to meet with representatives of the local business chambers and the university.
