******************************************************************************************
An exhibition entitled "Hong Kong in Miniature", which showcases 48 miniature models that capture the uniqueness and vibrancy of Hong Kong, opened in Tokyo, Japan, today (September 29).

The miniature models are the work of 17 artists active in Hong Kong and depict Hong Kong's cherished traditions, its unique culture, its cityscape and aspects of daily life. The exhibits portray scenes including sunset in Lei Yue Mun, streets in Sham Shui Po, the interiors of public housing flats, the Cheung Chau Bun Festival, and old streets and shops in Hong Kong.

The Principal Hong Kong Economic and Trade Representative (Tokyo), Ms Shirley Yung, said that these models vividly depict the essence of Hong Kong's culture and heritage, which is a fascinating blend of East and West, old and new.

"The exhibition not only showcases the unique attractions of Hong Kong as a cosmopolitan city, but also demonstrates that Hong Kong is a city full of creativity, character and artistic creation," she said.

Organised by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Tokyo) and supported by the Hong Kong Tourism Board, the exhibition aims to promote a better understanding of Hong Kong among Japanese people and enhance Hong Kong's attractiveness as a travel destination.

It is part of a series of events in Japan to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

The exhibition is being held in KITTE Marunouchi, a commercial complex in front of Tokyo Station, until October 9.
