SED to visit Beijing

     The Secretary for Education (SED), Mr Kevin Yeung, will leave Hong Kong next Monday evening (September 18) for a duty visit to Beijing.

     On September 19, Mr Yeung will attend a regular working meeting with officials of the Ministry of Education, and pay courtesy calls on the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council and the Beijing Municipal Education Commission. He will also meet with a group of Hong Kong students studying at universities on the Mainland to learn more about their daily life and needs.

     During his stay in Beijing, Mr Yeung will join student exchange activities organised by Po Leung Kuk, including the launch ceremony of an exchange programme for secondary schools students from Beijing and Hong Kong on September 20.

     Officials accompanying Mr Yeung on his visit to Beijing will include the Permanent Secretary for Education, Mrs Ingrid Yeung; Deputy Secretaries for Education Mr Brian Lo and Mrs Hong Chan Tsui-wah; and the Principal Assistant Secretary for Education (Professional Development and Training), Mr Benjamin Yung.  

     Mr Yeung will return to Hong Kong in the evening on September 20. During his absence, the Under Secretary for Education, Dr Choi Yuk-lin, will be the Acting SED.
