United Nations Sanctions (Democratic Republic of the Congo) Regulation 2017 gazetted

     The Government today (September 15) gazetted the United Nations Sanctions (Democratic Republic of the Congo) Regulation 2017 (the Regulation), which came into operation today.

     "The Regulation implements sanctions against the Democratic Republic of the Congo imposed by the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2360," a Government spokesperson said.
 
     The sanctions under the Regulation include:
 
  • prohibition against the supply, sale, transfer or carriage of arms or related materiel to certain persons;
  • prohibition against the provision of assistance, advice or training related to military activities in certain circumstances;
  • prohibition against making available to, or for the benefit of, certain persons or entities any funds or other financial assets or economic resources;
  • prohibition against dealing with funds or other financial assets or economic resources belonging to, or owned or controlled by, certain persons or entities; and
  • prohibition against the entry into or transit through the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region by certain persons.
