Transcript of remarks by SLW on NAAC's staff retrenchment plan
**************************************************************
Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Dr Law Chi-kwong, at a stand-up media session before attending the Project WeCan Job Tasting Programme Closing Ceremony today (September 13):

Reporter: (On the Neighbourhood Advice-Action Council (NAAC)'s staff retrenchment plan.) Will there be any penalty since the Social Welfare Department is already following up on the NGO's sudden letting go of its staff?

Secretary for Labour and Welfare: It depends at the end of the day whether the Social Welfare Department discovers anything that we consider to be irregular or if there is any negligence in it. So far, there is no particular standard penalty for this kind of arrangement, but at the end of the day we may have to consider those possibilities for this particular case. But anyway, this is part of the future review on the Lump Sum Grant and we will let the media know more when we have decided the way to go ahead (regarding the review).
