***************************************************************
The Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, visited the General Post Office (GPO) in Central this afternoon (September 9) to express his appreciation to Hongkong Post (HKP) staff for their efforts and outstanding performance in the delivery of United Kingdom (UK) student visas.

Accompanied by the Postmaster General, Mr Gordon Leung, Mr Cheung toured the special counter for handling UK student visas and chatted with HKP staff to understand their special services to facilitate delivery and collection of the visas, including calling the addressees to arrange for collection of visas.

He noted that so far the special counter, which operates from 8am to 8pm daily since September 6, has processed more than 2 100 visa-related mail items. HKP has also set up a hotline to receive public enquires on this matter.

Mr Cheung was glad to know that all visa-related mail items are timely delivered to or collected by addressees.

"The special arrangements adopted by HKP for handling the student visas fully reflect their commitment of providing professional and quality services to the general public. I must commend HKP staff for their professionalism and dedication in providing customer-oriented services.
