254 Hong Kong athletes to contest in 13th National Games finals

     The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) will send a 358-member delegation, comprising 254 athletes and 104 officials / medical practitioners, to take part in the finals of the 13th National Games of the People’s Republic of China which will be held in Tianjin between August 27 and September 8.

     The National Games is the highest level sport events held every four years in the Mainland and athletes from all provinces and cities will take pride in participating in it. In the last National Games, the Hong Kong athletes were awarded a total of seven medals (one gold, three silver and three bronze medals).

     This year, Hong Kong athletes will contest in 22 final competitions, namely swimming (swimming, water polo, synchronised swimming, marathon swimming), athletics (athletics, marathon), canoeing (sprint), cycling (track, road race and mountain bike), equestrian, fencing, golf, gymnastics (gymnastics and artistic gymnastics), handball, judo, karatedo, sailing, windsurfing, shooting, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, triathlon, beach volleyball, wushu (taolu), badminton and roller hockey.

     It will be the sixth time for the HKSAR to participate in the National Games since 1997. Fencer Cheung Ka-long will be the flag bearer of the Hong Kong delegationin the upcoming Opening Ceremony of the 13th National Games.
