CSSA caseload for July 2017

     The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in July showed a drop of 357 cases, representing a decrease of 0.2 per cent compared with that of June, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (August 23).

     The total CSSA caseload at the end of July stood at 235 306 (see attached table), with a total of 345 576 recipients.

     Analysed by case nature, all categories of cases recorded a decrease. Low-earnings cases registered a month-to-month decrease of 1.1 per cent to 4 777 cases while unemployment cases showed a drop of 0.7 per cent to 13 615 cases.

     Permanent disability cases and single parent cases decreased by 0.3 per cent and 0.2 per cent to 17 273 cases and 26 722 cases respectively. Both old age cases and ill health cases dropped slightly by 0.1 per cent to 144 612 cases and 23 914 cases respectively.
