About 4 200 vacancies on offer at Kowloon West Job Fair

     The Labour Department will hold a large-scale three-day job fair at Dragon Centre from August 22 to 24. The first day of the recruitment event will focus on vacancies in the retail industry, while vacancies in catering, property management, business services and other industries will be offered on August 23 and 24. Twenty two participating organisations will set up counters and conduct on-the-spot recruitment each day.

     A total of 66 organisations, offering about 4 200 vacancies, will participate in the fair. The vacancies offered cover a wide variety of positions such as travel consultant, clerk, beauty advisor, shop assistant, assistant health service worker, security guard, driver, storekeeper, waiter/waitress, chef, technician, cashier, moon cake producer/packer, part-time exhibition/event electrician assistant, part-time valet captain and more. Job seekers can find more vacancy information on the department's Interactive Employment Service website (www.jobs.gov.hk).

     Around 79 per cent of the vacancies are for full-time jobs. Most vacancies offer monthly salaries ranging from $8,000 to $16,000. About 97 per cent of the vacancies require a Secondary Six education level or below. Around 64 per cent are open to job seekers without relevant work experience, and many vacancies are suitable for young people and secondary school graduates.

     Job seekers can submit applications on the spot and may be selected for on-site interviews. They can also make enquiries on employment services and employment programmes at the Labour Department's counter.

     The job fair will be held from 11am to 5.30pm at Atrium 1/F, Dragon Centre, 37 K, Yen Chow Street, Sham Shui Po, Kowloon (MTR Sham Shui Po Station Exit C1). Admission is free.
