CS visits Yau Tsim Mong District (with photos)

     The Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, visited Yau Tsim Mong District this afternoon (August 10). Accompanied by the Chairman of the Yau Tsim Mong District Council (YTMDC), Mr Ip Ngo-tung, and the Vice Chairman, Ms Wong Shu-ming, as well as the District Officer (Yau Tsim Mong), Mrs Laura Aron, he toured the Tsim Sha Tsui District Kai Fong Association Neighbourhood Elderly Activities Centre and the Mong Kok Kai Fong Association Limited Chan Hing Social Service Centre, and met with members of the Yau Tsim Mong District Council (YTMDC) to seek the latest update on the developments of the district.

     Mr Cheung first visited the Tsim Sha Tsui District Kai Fong Association Neighbourhood Elderly Activities Centre at Shanghai Street and viewed the centre’s facilities. He took part in a birthday party held by the centre for the elderly in the district to send birthday blessings to elderly people born in August. Mr Cheung also chatted with the elderly and was pleased to note that some of those aged 65 to 69 are benefiting from the enhanced Elderly Health Care Voucher Scheme. Since July 1, the eligibility age for the Scheme has been lowered from 70 to 65.

     Mr Cheung then visited the Mong Kok Kai Fong Association Limited Chan Hing Social Service Centre to familiarise himself with the operation of the centre. He chatted with ethnic minority women and children to learn more about their daily living, study and work and tasted their home-made snacks. Mr Cheung encouraged different sectors of the community to continue the promotion of racial harmony.

     Before concluding the visit, Mr Cheung had a meeting with members of the YTMDC to listen to their views on various development issues and matters of concern to the community.
