The Chief Executive, Mrs Carrie Lam, and the Secretary for Security, Mr John Lee, accompanied by the Commissioner of Police, Mr Lo Wai-chung, officiated at the opening ceremony of the Junior Police Call Permanent Activity Centre and Integrated Youth Training Camp at Pat Heung (JPC@Pat Heung), Yuen Long today (August 10). The ceremony was one of the celebrating events of the 20th Anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr Lo said that the objective of setting up the JPC@Pat Heung was to make use of a wide range of facilities to provide the youth with discipline, physical fitness and team building training, so as to raise their awareness of crime prevention, promote social responsibility and enhance leadership skills, as well as to foster positive values such as integrity, honesty and respect to others. Mr Lo also thanked the government departments and community stakeholders concerned for their support to the Junior Police Call Scheme and the JPC@Pat Heung.

After the ceremony, the officiating guests toured around the campsite to visit the indoor training facilities, including the Crime Scene Investigation Training Room and Fingerprint Identification Workshop. A tree planting activity was also held to commemorate the official opening of the JPC@Pat Heung.

About 150 guests including representatives from government departments, Junior Police Call and Senior Police Call Central Advisory Board members, Honorary Presidents of Junior Police Call in different districts and Police officers attended the ceremony.

There were many on-going activities for about 270 members of Junior Police Call and Senior Police Call in the campsite, including a career-oriented training programme in which representatives from five disciplinary services shared their work experience and interview preparations with non-ethnic Chinese students.

The JPC@Pat Heung has been operated on trial since April 2017, serving members of Junior Police Call and Senior Police Call, youth groups and ethnic minorities. Occupying an area of about 29,000 square metres, the campsite is equipped with a number of large-scale outdoor training facilities, such as the circuit training area, rope course and zip line, and artificial turf pitch.
