SFH speaks on mosquito control
******************************

Following is the transcript of remarks made by the Secretary for Food and Health, Professor Sophia Chan, before attending a public function today (August 5):

Reporter: Secretary, is there anything we can do to allow government officials to enter privately-owned places such as pig farms to conduct these mosquito control measures because right now people are questioning whether we are doing enough?

Secretary for Food and Health: I think, for the pig farms, the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department and the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department have already entered the pig farms to do surveillance as well as advised pig farmers on mosquito control measures. They also checked the place. So I think this is not only the pig farms or a matter of legislation, it requires everybody including people who are living at homes and people who are working at construction sites and other places that are at risk of having mosquitoes, (to adopt mosquito control measures).
