Correctional Services Department holds vocational training course certificate presentation ceremony in Tong Fuk Correctional Institution (with photos)

     The Correctional Services Department (CSD) held a vocational training course certificate presentation ceremony today (August 4) in Tong Fuk Correctional Institution. At the ceremony, certificates were presented to 33 persons in custody who had completed the Timber Formwork Skill Course and the Chinese Cookery and Chinese Restaurant Service Certificate Course respectively. Persons in custody who have completed the courses can obtain the same recognised qualifications as those awarded to trainees outside.

     The Chairman of the Outlying Islands Women's Association (OIWA), Ms Chau Chuen-heung, officiated at the ceremony.
 
     Speaking at the certificate presentation ceremony, Ms Chau said that OIWA shares the CSD's mission of introducing vocational training courses for persons in need and strengthening their competitiveness in the job market. In addition, she encouraged the persons in custody to have determination to be rehabilitated and to practise the skills they learnt to spread positive energy in society.
 
     The CSD has successfully initiated nine Timber Formwork Skill Courses, with 112 certified trainees, and 12 Chinese Cookery and Chinese Restaurant Service Certificate Courses, with 196 certified trainees.
