Xinjiang ensemble to stage song and dance performance in October

     The Song and Dance Ensemble of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps will visit Hong Kong to give two performances of "Our Frontier is a Nice Place" in October.
 
     Broadly themed on the Belt and Road Initiative, the ensemble will perform the Uyghur dances "The Borderland is as Beautiful as Jiangnan", "Fragrant Breads", "Young Women Picking Grapes", "Dancers at Sunset", "Dolan Dance" and the male solo dance "Plate Dance"; the Kazakh dances "Beautiful Images along the Yili River" and "Blissful Days" as well as the song "Homeland in My Heart"; the Tajik dance "Drumming in the Plateau"; the Uzbek dance "Bell Dance"; the Tartar dance "Embroidery"; the female dance "Beautiful Images along the Silk Road"; and the solo songs "Beautiful Xinjiang" and "Our Xinjiang is a Fine Place".
 
     Founded in 1949, the Song and Dance Ensemble of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps is a provincial-level performing arts group established by the state over 60 years ago. Its performers are ethnically diverse including those of Han, Uyghur, Kazakh, Mongolian, Manchurian, Russian and Kyrgyz backgrounds. The ensemble has performed in the Mainland and in many countries around the world to critical acclaim, and has won numerous awards both in Xinjiang and in national contests.
 
     "Our Frontier is a Nice Place" is presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and is one of the events celebrating the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. It will be staged at 8pm on October 6 (Friday) at the Auditorium of Sha Tin Town Hall and at 3pm on October 8 (Sunday) at the Auditorium of Tuen Mun Town Hall.
