SCMA visits Tsuen Wan District (with photos)

     The Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Patrick Nip, visited Tsuen Wan District today (July 28), meeting members of the Tsuen Wan District Council (TWDC) and teenagers to learn more about the latest developments in Tsuen Wan and the concerns of the people. He also visited a pre-school rehabilitation facility in the district.
 
     Mr Nip, accompanied by the Chairman of TWDC, Mr Chung Wai-ping, and District Officer (Tsuen Wan), Miss Jenny Yip, met with members of TWDC to exchange views on the latest developments and issues of concern in Tsuen Wan.
 
     Mr Nip then visited the Yan Chai Hospital Yuen Yuen Institute Early Education and Training Centre. The centre offers professional training and guidance to children up to six years old who are suffering from developmental delay and their parents, with a view to providing rehabilitation services to the children at an early stage so that they can grow up normally.
 
     Mr Nip toured the centre's facilities, including the sensory integration training room and speech therapy room, and learned about the support services provided to children and parents in need. He then met with several parents and listened to their needs and views on the services. He also expressed his gratitude to the centre's staff for their love and devotion in rendering the services.
 
     Afterwards, Mr Nip had an exchange session with members of the Tsuen Wan District Youth Corps to hear their views and feedback on participation in community services and outbound exchange activities. He learnt that the Youth Corps had in past years organised volunteering and community service activities and an exchange visit to Inner Mongolia. 
 
     Mr Nip said, "The Hong Kong Section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link (XRL) is expected to commence operation in the third quarter of next year. It will connect Hong Kong to the expanding national high-speed rail network, fostering ties between Hong Kong and the Mainland on various fronts. In future, young people can take the XRL and travel to different provinces and cities on the Mainland to participate in exchange programmes in a more speedy and convenient way, thus helping to deepen their understanding and first-hand experience of the latest developments of the nation."
 
     "In formulating policies, the Government is keen to listen to the views of young people. I encourage young people to proactively express their opinions on various social issues and to get involved in serving the community," he added.
