The Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Patrick Nip, today (July 27) visited the Kowloon Bay office of the Registration and Electoral Office (REO) to learn more about the department's work and to encourage colleagues to keep up with their professional performance to ensure that elections in Hong Kong are held in an open, fair and honest manner.

Upon arrival, Mr Nip met with REO colleagues, during which he was briefed on the work of the office as well as the challenges and problems encountered in the course of their work.

Mr Nip visited the REO's Electoral Information Centre and toured the display area. He was pleased to learn that the REO would frequently update the exhibits to enable members of the public to gain a better understanding of Hong Kong's electoral system and voter registration arrangements.

He was also given a demonstration on the handling of voter registration applications to understand the measures taken by the REO to enable the public to register as electors and to ensure the integrity and accuracy of the voter registration system.

Mr Nip expressed gratitude to colleagues of the REO for their hard work in handling voter registration and election-related matters. He encouraged them to learn from experiences, constantly upgrade themselves and continue to serve the community in a proactive and professional manner.
