SED deeply saddened by passing of Lau Wong-fat

"Over the past few decades, Mr Lau held a number of key public service positions, such as Executive Council Member, Legislative Councillor, Chairman of Tuen Mun District Council, Chairman of Heung Yee Kuk, Chairman of Tuen Mun Rural Committee and Founder of Yan Oi Tong. He has made tremendous contribution to Hong Kong's developments," Mr Yeung said.
"On the education front, Mr Lau was Honorary Court Member of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Both Heung Yee Kuk and Yan Oi Tong are key school sponsoring bodies in Hong Kong. Their kindergartens as well as primary and secondary schools have nurtured numerous young generations over the years."
Mr Yeung said that Mr Lau's contribution to the society would always be in Hong Kong people's memory.
