CSSA caseload for June 2017

     The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in June showed a drop of 596 cases, representing a decrease of 0.3 per cent compared with that of May, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (July 19).

     The total CSSA caseload at the end of June stood at 235 663 (see attached table), with a total of 345 655 recipients.

     Analysed by case nature, low-earnings cases registered a month-to-month decrease of 1.7 per cent to 4 831 cases while unemployment cases showed a drop of 1.2 per cent to 13 707 cases.

     Permanent disability cases and ill health cases decreased by 0.5 per cent and 0.4 per cent to 17 317 cases and 23 943 cases respectively. Old age cases dropped slightly by 0.1 per cent to 144 694 cases.

     Single parent cases registered a slight increase of 0.1 per cent to 26 771 cases.
