Eleven building plans approved in May

     The Buildings Department approved 11 building plans in May, with two on Hong Kong Island, four in Kowloon and five in the New Territories.
 
     Of the approved plans, five were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, one was for commercial developments, four were for factory and industrial developments and one was for community services developments.
 
     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 11 building projects that, when completed, will provide 12 633 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 314 units, and 21 117 sq m of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 10 building projects.
 
     The department also issued 23 occupation permits, with five on Hong Kong Island, 12 in Kowloon and six in the New Territories.
 
     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 30 753 sq m, involving 1 012 units, and 86 475 sq m was for non-domestic use.
 
     The declared cost of new buildings completed in May totalled about $3.8 billion.
 
     In addition, 13 demolition consents involving 13 building structures were issued.
 
     The department received 2 997 reports about unauthorised building works in May and issued 837 removal orders on unauthorised works.
