"The Butterfly Dream of Zhuang Zhou" takes place during the end of the Eastern Zhou dynasty. Ten days later, when Tian is paying her respects at the grave, Xiong Sheng, an imperial grandson of the Chu state, comes to visit. Tian and Xiong fall in love and promise themselves to each other, but good times never last. When Xiong Sheng has a heart attack and requires a remedy formulated with human brain and warm liquor, Tian goes to Zhuang Zhou's grave to break open his coffin and acquire the brain, setting off a sequence of shocking and unexpected developments.
