International puppet theatres to perform "From Puppets to Humans" Series

"André and Dorine" by Kulunka Theatre Company (Spain)

"André and Dorine" is a poetic piece of mask and mime theatre, exploring important themes with warmth and humour. On stage, three actors present more than 15 characters without speaking, relying only on gestures and the use of masks. André and Dorine live just like many old couples do, slowly deteriorating from routine and neglect. However, the coming of Alzheimer’s breaks the monotony, and so begins a fresh start in their relationship, a journey through memory. They need to remember who they were, so as not to forget who they are. They remember how they used to love, so that they can keep loving one another.
"Clowns' Houses" by Merlin Puppet Theatre (Germany)

Merlin Puppet Theatre uses a combination of different puppetry techniques in this puppet theatre for adults. Six residents live in five apartments in the same building. They live with their fears, obsessions and loneliness in their prison-like dark houses. They are trapped in their routines. They are distanced from their dreams. “Clowns’ Houses” takes an uncomfortably close look at our style of modern living.

Nominated for the Peter Brook Festival Award, "CELL" is a collaboration between two of the United Kingdom (UK)’s most exciting young companies. After being diagnosed with motor neurone disease, Ted goes on the trip of a lifetime - and so does his pet fish. He rushes off to experience the world, from the markets of Lille to the romance of Venice. This heartwarming and inventive puppetry tells the story of one man’s final adventure to create enough memories to last a lifetime.
