The following is issued on behalf of the Hong Kong Housing Authority:

     The Hong Kong Housing Authority (HA)'s Quality Public Housing Construction and Maintenance Awards 2017, which are co-organised with industry associations and labour unions, are now open for nominations. Industry practitioners and public housing tenants are encouraged to render their support.

     The event serves to recognise the outstanding performance of contractors, project teams, supervisors and frontline workers in the construction and maintenance works of the HA's public housing projects. At the same time, they are encouraged to further enhance their work and service standards to achieve quality public housing. Aimed at "Enhancing Quality and Professionalism in Construction and Maintenance", the event also provides a platform for industry practitioners to share their experience and stimulate new thoughts on technological breakthroughs and site safety in public housing construction and maintenance projects.

     Under the groups "New Works Projects" and "Maintenance and Improvement Projects" are various awards commending individual workers, project teams, contractors, projects and site safety initiatives. The awards' assessment criteria include work quality, site safety, occupational safety and health, environmental protection, ethical integrity, partnership, customer service and innovation.

     Co-organising the Awards are the Hong Kong Construction Association Limited, the Hong Kong Federation of Electrical and Mechanical Contractors Limited, the Hong Kong Construction Sub-Contractors Association, the Hong Kong Construction Industry Employees General Union, the Construction Site Workers General Union, Hong Kong and Kowloon Electrical Engineering and Appliances Trade Workers Union, the Hong Kong General Union of Lift and Escalator Employees, the Labour Department, the Occupational Safety and Health Council, the Construction Industry Council and the Vocational Training Council.

     Nomination forms are available at all HA public housing estate offices, the HA Headquarters and offices of the HA's construction and maintenance contractors. The form can also be downloaded from the HA/HD webpage (www.housingauthority.gov.hk/quality-awards). Completed nomination form(s) should reach the HA Headquarters on or before July 31 (please refer to the form for details).
